We will become a leading research institute of security and defense based on advanced science and technology.
ISC was established for the purpose of developing innovative fundamental technology in the fields of security and national defense to keep ahead of changes in future warfare.
With the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, the institute is actively conducting research related to security and defense, so as to prepare more thoroughly against growing threats to national security.
Instead of focusing on conventional development of weapons to meet military demands, we seek to establish an open research platform that integrates the strengths of industries, universities, and research institutes.
Innovative R&D will be performed by our eight research groups, dedicated to cyber security, space systems, defense technology, autonomous systems, energy, materials, sensors, and quantum systems.
In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, acquiring convergence technology is the key to enhancing national competitiveness and security.
ISC will specialize in basic, creative R&D through close cooperation with the government, research institutes, and the private sector.
