Background

While past studies on national defense and security were led by the government, security research has been led by universities and private business following developments in smart IT, including AI, drones, and IoT.

The Security Convergence Program (SP) was launched in fall 2020 for KAIST students enrolled in master’s and doctoral programs to utilize KAIST’s advanced science and technology in fostering creative, multidisciplinary talent in defense and security.

Eligibility and Requirements

Selection criteria and quota

30 KAIST scholarship recipients in master’s/doctoral programs (including integrated programs) (24 from master’s, 6 from doctoral (including integrated) programs)

Advisor

Adjunct faculty of Institute for Security Convergence

Course

Security convergence courses (required)

Certificate

Certificate awarded in the name of the president (+ degree by affiliated department)

Details of support

Supported by advisor (four semesters for master’s, eight semesters for doctoral program)

Requirements

  • Master’s program (thesis master’s)
